It's FRIDAY!

It turns out my littlest doesn't have chicken pox after all. We're wondering if it could be insect bites or possibly viral. Either way I guess it's a relief that she doesn't have it, although I would prefer her to get it sooner than later. We don't vaccinate for it in the UK routinely so it's better if people can have it mildly in childhood than in later life. My Mum had it as an adult and it wasn't much fun for her to say the least!

Anyways, on the crafting front I don't really have much I can show you. I've done a couple of squares, a few rounds on my sock but mainly I've been working on my MKAL shawl. I've finished the second clue now, it's starting to get more and more lacy, I'm very excited for next Tuesday when the third clue comes out.

So this post isn't entirely wordy I thought I'd share a photo of the amaryllis flower that lives in my kitchen at the moment. It's so bright and happy and it practically glows when the sunlight comes through it :-)

Pop back tomorrow if you fancy hearing about the "sweet tea" we made for the children tonight. It was rather well received ;-)

Very quick WIP Wednesday

I've knitted a sleeve and finished a sock. Second sleeve and sock are now cast on but I've not knitted much more than that.

Shawl is the same as last week but I'm planning on working on it today. Was too busy yesterday when the second clue came out. Only 24 rows so hopefully won't take too long...

There is a reason for this post's brevity. I have a poorly Squishy. I think she's got chicken pox :-S

Not many spots yet but if it is the pox then I'm sure more will follow. It means I can't go to Toddler group today and have to keep her away from small children for a bit. My other 3 children have already had it so at least I'll only have one poorly baby to look after.

As you can see she's not actually that poorly at the moment. For the past week though she has definitely been under the weather. Today will be a lazy day with cuddles and sleeping and maybe a bit of baking if she's up to it :)

For more productive WIP Wednesday posts visit Tami's Amis. Hopefully next week I'll have something worth showing!

A quick project

I got a new book in the post yesterday morning and between being ill and busy I still haven't found a quiet moment to have a proper look through it! I'll be sure to let you know my thoughts when I do :)

What I thought was rather nice is that they included a little kit to make one of the projects in the book straight away. Naturally the thread was some sort of splitty cotton and the wooden hook didn't work very well for me but I got one of my own hooks out and persevered

As you can see, it's not exactly like the one in the pattern*. The main reason is that the long petals are formed using "treble treble" stitches which are in my opinion, ridiculous! If I'd got less splitty yarn to work with, was more patient and actually cared then I would have been fine doing them but life is TOO SHORT! Ahem. Instead I just did some clusters of treble stitches surrounded by half trebles and double crochet. Sorry for US crocheters but I don't have the brain power to translate them!

I've no idea what I'm going to do with this little faux daisy so for now it's just going to have to sit there looking decorative! I'm currently waiting for Mr Soaring Sheep to come home so I can confirm his sock is the right length and then cast it off, hurrah!

*I also messed up the stitch pattern I was doing too, it's a pretty rubbish daisy really lol

An Autumnal Walk

I'm still feeling under the weather with my cough and now a cold starting too. I've not been sleeping that well either so feeling a bit sorry for myself! I've done a bit of crafting but I'll show that another day. Today I'd like to share some photos of a walk we went on at the weekend :)

The next clue for the Booknits MKAL comes out tomorrow. I'm hoping to do some more work on my colourwork cardigan today, I finished the first sleeve yesterday and have already cast on the next one. Unfortunately though my next job is tackling the pile of ironing which isn't nearly as fun! Hey ho!

Have a good week everyone, hopefully I'll be back with some actual knitting/crochet photos soon :)

The Little One was feeling a bit sleepy yesterday afternoon so she snuggled herself on the sofa :-)
