I used Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind off rather than the picots suggested in the pattern. I kept the long dangly bits though which were done using a crochet hook

Sorry for so many pictures, I'm just so in love with this project!

Today I'm going to carry on with my Rainbow and try to chill out a bit. Still trying to catch up on missed sleep from having to take my son to hospital Wednesday night and not getting home until 2am. He's fine and is back to school today and telling everyone about his ride in the ambulance!

I'll be checking out the FO Friday, Fiber Arts Friday and Creative Friday posts too :-)

Keep Calm

And Craft a Rainbow

DSC_0005

Last night we had a bit of a medical drama with my little boy which involved an ambulance transfer between two hospitals. He's fine now but we're surviving on very little sleep. I'm barely holding it together but only because I know I have to, at least until the children are in bed.

I saw this post on Made in K Town and it struck a chord so I started making a rainbow :)

WIP Wednesday

Anyone fancy a bit of colour?

DSC_0560

I love bright colourful projects lol :-) I've added two more rows to the blanket and now need to make some more squares in some of the colours. I make a pile of the 17 different coloured squares and then arrange those in rows and I don't add another 17 until the first pile is empty. Helps me balance the colours out better this way

DSC_0561

I make the squares in batches of 7 because that is 5% of my target number. When I've made 7 I sew in the ends and then add them to the bag

DSC_0563

I'm still playing around with these big granny squares. They are 14 rounds with 7 colours and each square will start with a different colour. I thought if I do 7 with this colour sequence and then reverse it I could maybe have a nice blanket. Not sure if I'll make the blanket 3 x 4 squares or a bit bigger or maybe arrange the squares around a central design? I'm just playing at the moment :)

My Mum's shawl is almost finished, I'm onto the last chart now although not made much progress on it. I'd love to get the shawl finished and posted by the weekend so I'm trying to work on it whenever I get a free moment

That's it from me today. I've got some photos of my lace shawl to share on Friday, I can't wait to show it to you :-) Hop over to Tami's for more WIP Wednesday posts :-)

FO - Rainbow birthday socks

I cast on these socks in September but have been really slow with finishing them. They were supposed to be for Mr Soaring Sheep's birthday on the 25th September... whoops! However they are finished now and he is very much enjoying having some warm toes :-)

DSC_0536

I also think these will be my last pair of socks modelled this way as I've heard rumours that Father Christmas is bringing me some sock blockers for Christmas :-D

DSC_0540

The rainbow yarn is from The Knitting Goddess in a colourway called "Printer Ink". I used my normal 64 stitch toe up sock pattern with a gusset heel and did k2p2 ribbing up the leg with a stretchy cast off

DSC_0542

He started to be a bit silly with foot modelling, I don't think he's ready for a career in it..

Daft man! Whilst I was taking these photos a certain young lady was having great fun dancing around the lounge. I managed to get this photo of her which I'm rather pleased with  She's so silly and cute lol

I'm going to enjoy the children being back at school today. Knitting, jigsaws and cuddles with the littlest but mainly enjoying the relative quiet. Bliss...

FO Friday- Happy Flower decoration

Yikes, November already? I'm going to clear my WIP's this month, the shawl, sock and cardigan are going to be finished. They've been hanging around long enough! Of course the reason they've been hanging around is that I keep getting distracted and casting on new projects, like the stripey bag I showed you last week. This week's FO is another one of those distraction projects...

DSC_0452

It's a Happy Flower Decoration from the Attic24 pattern

DSC_0453

I don't like working with cotton yarn very much, I can't seem to get my tension right. The flower looks happy and handmade though so I guess it's ok :-)

DSC_0454

I had fun rummaging through my button and bead stash for decorating it. I added this little bell at the bottom, it probably won't get much opportunity to jingle but it makes me smile anyway

DSC_0455

I used seed beads left over from beaded shawls in between the different pieces, in the evening light the silver ones almost sparkle :)

DSC_0456

The black button in the middle of the flower has holographic glitter :-) Fab!

DSC_0460

And this is where my flower will live, on the wall between my two lounge windows. A little bit of happy colour :-) Just what you need on gloomy wet days!

DSC_0462

I'm looking forward to heading over to Tami's later to see the other FO Friday posts :-) Thanks for dropping by. Sorry the photos are a bit lacking. It's half term week here and whenever I find a spare moment to take photos it's usually cloudy and dark *sigh* I'm going to take the little darlings out for a walk now, try to burn off some of that excess energy lol
