Fluffy post!

I'm going through that stage which many knitters go through where you have no time to knit but you keep buying yarn as if it will some how result in more time! I bought these two beautiful sock yarns last week from the lovely Kirsty at Wharfedale Woolworks. I'd highly recommend checking out her twitter feed for some offers ;-)

This first yarn is called "Poison Ivy". Both it and the other one are a bfl/nylon mix with a high twist so perfect for socks

The other yarn is my favourite though. It's called "Heatwave" and it's just gorgeous. I can't wait to knit this one up. It was skeined much more neatly than it is in the photo here. My 2 year old decided to help unwrap the parcel...

I might also have two more yarns each coming from both Flamboyance yarns and Sparkleduck, sock yarns again. Think I'd better get back to my knitting before all that extra yardage arrives! Enjoy the sunshine everyone :-)

A sunny weekend break

I'm finding life very busy at the moment and not having much energy for blogging, knitting, cleaning... Not sure if it's related to the heat or just because it's a busy time of year. Either way, a short camping holiday really appealed so I was so happy when Mr Soaring Sheep booked one last weekend :-)

We had such a lovely day on the beach on Saturday and then came back to enjoy the sunshine at the campsite

Despite appearances he did have a good time! I think he was just tired out and ready for bed by this point!

All the children had their own little rucksack with their clothes in. My littlest was very proud of hers :-) I think when we go on our main holiday I'll put some snacks, toys and book in their rucksacks instead and the clothes will go in a suitcase

On our way home on Sunday we went to Tattershall castle for a wander round

We climbed all the way to the top

We even had our own private fly past!

It was a wonderful and much needed break. I am looking forward to the Summer holidays which start in a couple of weeks time, I think some lazy days with picnics and walks in the sunshine will help us all recharge a bit. For now though, I'm going to do a little knitting, have a cup of tea and probably go to bed early!

Home is definitely my favourite place to be though :-)

WIP Wednesday

Wednesday already, I swear time is speeding up the closer we get to the Summer holidays! We've had a busy week though. On Friday morning the weather was so nice I said to Mr Soaring Sheep I fancied going on holiday. I later emailed him a link to a campsite and asking his opinion and he later emailed me back saying it looked lovely and we're going to be camping there that night and the day after :-o

So we had two gloriously sunny days by the seaside, wonderful! I took lots of photos so I'll share a few of them with you tomorrow. It has meant however that I've not really got much knitting progress to show you apart from Clue 1 and a little of Clue 2 of the Summer Storm KAL.

It took me a little while to get started on this. I was naughty and didn't do a gauge swatch and then after about 3 inches I decided to measure it and realised I was WAY out. Had to go down 2 needle sizes in the end, whoops!

This vest? cardigan? project is going to be asymmetrical I believe, with two after thought pockets on the sides. Very interesting watching it take shape. The girl pattern is equally interesting (I've sneaked a look at other people's versions) and I'm looking forward to working on it too.

For now though I'm going to carry on with the waffle stitch and sort through my mini-holiday photos :-) I'll also have a look at the other WIP Wednesday posts at Tami's Amis :-) Thanks for dropping by!

WIP Wednesday

*Yawn* this is the first time I've had a chance to stop all day. Lots of to-ing and fro-ing today as my little boy is starting school in September and this month he has lots of visits to meet his new teacher etc.

Naturally as I have such a busy month I thought it would be a good idea to do two mystery KAL's as well as the project's I'm already working on!

Firstly, here's my Wingspan, I'm onto the last triangle now although I am tempted to add a ninth if I've got enough yarn, I prefer odd numbers for some reason.

It's a good mindless pattern, perfect for knitting in the car (as a passenger!)

My other project currently is the Oh Summer mystery KAL for a girl. I've finished the first clue and this is how it's shaping up

I'm making this for my 7 year old daughter. She doesn't have a lot of green in her wardrobe so thought this would work nicely. Looking forward to getting the next clue :-) The lace detail on the sleeves is so pretty

I'm also joining in with the Summer Storm mystery KAL for a boy using this yarn, but I've not cast on yet. I'll probably do that in a bit or maybe tomorrow. Depends how lazy I'm feeling lol

That's it for now. I've not been working on my crochet cushion cover at all so I'll skip posting about that for today. Thank you for all the lovely comments on my Multnomah shawl that I posted about last week. For more WIP Wednesday posts visit Tami's Amis.

Sorry I'm not very perky today, having a hard time keeping my eyes open!

xx
