The cables are knitted through the back loop so they pop out nicely. There are lots of details on this sweater that make it that little more special
The saddle shoulder means the sleeve cables flow down from the neck
And the cables merge into the ribbing on the cuffs and bottom of the sweater
Down the sides of the sweater and the inside of the sleeves is a single purl stitch which makes it look like it's seamed
I love these front cables so much :-)
I think my big boy is rather pleasd with his new sweater too :-)
I used around 270g of dk yarn to make the 6 years size with extra length. The yarn was Wendy Merino in the "Dutch Blue" colourway so it's lovely and soft. I'm really pleased with how this sweater came out.
I wouldn't recommend this pattern for a complete beginner because of the short rows to shape the neck. It took me a bit of concentrating to work out what I was being asked to do. Once I got past that though it was lovely and straight foward

He is adorable! I love the way the cables pop. I enjoy knitting cables, because they keep me on my toes.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful sweather for a boy. I seem to have problems finding something for my 7 year old boy. So much for girls though. I tend to end up with all the _Norwegian traditional fair isle knitting. I love that, but still. Happy Easter. Please share this at my link up :)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about boy sweaters -- and the older they get, the tougher it is to find things that I'll want to knit and they'll want to wear. Frozen looks great!
