A new project

I enjoy knitting for my children. They're still young enough that getting a new knitting cardigan from their Mum is a good thing :-) Plus they're smart enough to have realised that being able to choose the colour and having a top made out of wool yarn it's warmer too.

My eldest daughter has had a bit of a growth spurt recently and has been growing out of a lot of sleeves. I saw the Queen of the Waves pattern recently and decided that it would be a nice quick knit and would result in a shrug she could wear during the Spring and Summer until I've had a chance to knit her something a bit more substantial.

I'm knitting it with some stash yarn as I'm still Cold Sheeping. It's a colourway called Poison Ivy and is by Wharfedale Woolworks. I'm hoping to add some silver beads to the neckline of the shrug to make it that little bit more special.

The colours have really pooled on the back. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with the sleeves :-) I'm just going to do the plain sleeves this time although I think the lace sleeves are very striking. I think the busy-ness of the yarn I'm using would detract from them though.

I'm joining in with Nicole's Keep Calm Craft On so hop over for more projects :-)

    1. I've knitted the first sleeve now and it's turned out really nicely :-) I got some fab pooling near the cuff. My children are frequently in wool at this time of year, they love being able to chose colourways, buttons, patterns etc. :)

    1. Thank you :)

The rainbow BSJ was using some noro sock yarn. I think the details are on my ravelry page somewhere. I'm TheSoaringSheep on there :)

  6. So cute! I agree, I think that plain sleeves will look awesome with that yarn.

My daughter, age 3.5, still thinks that EVERYTHING I knit, crochet, etc, should be for her. :-)

    1. Thank you :) If you haven't already got a shrug pattern in mind then I'd suggest having a look at "La Isla Bonita collection" (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/la-isla-bonita-collection), it's got some pretty patterns in there with little details to make them extra special :) The designer is one of my favourites, she writes her patterns very clearly with lots of detail
