WIP Wednesday

Wednesday already, time feels like it's flying at the moment! I've not really been knitting very much since finishing my shawl. I decided to do a bit of work on the arms of the dress yesterday but this is all I achieved:

IMAG0662

I tried it on my toddler the other day and as suspected somewhere my gauge or measurements have been completely off and it swamped her. I tried it on my petite 7 year old though and it fits fine so she's asked for 3/4 length sleeves and tunic length for the body. I'll probably just knit until I run out of yarn for the body. I feel more inclined to work on it now I know that it will get some use, I'll have to come up with something else for my almost 2 year old's birthday instead (2 weeks, 1 day to go!!)

I've also not been working on my granny square blanket very much either because I ran out of the blue yarn. Ordered some but the company accidentally sent me aran weight instead of the DK I needed. Phoned them up this afternoon though and they're letting me keep the aran and posting the DK on to me today. Rather impressed with that response!

They're not a company I've ordered from before but I found them though google because they make and sell their own shade cards for Stylecraft yarns. This is what they look like:

How useful is that?

FWIW they don't know about this post and I'm not being paid or anything. I just thought it was a good idea and wanted to share :-)

  2. I sometimes buy from Afan crafts too. I've found they often have colours in that are out of stock at some of the bigger sellers and they sometimes work out cheaper anyway if you're under the free postage amount of other sellers.

  3. That shade card is awesome. I think it's a great idea.

Sorry the little tunic swamped the little one but at least it fits the other. It's a lovely blue!

  5. The same happened to me. I wanted to knit a cardigan for my baby girl, but it is way too large. I fortunately also have a 3 year old girl on which the cardi fits beautifully!!

  7. Fantastic shade card. I so often want one of those when I'm ordering yarns on line because the number of times I've got yarn that doesn't look like the computer!!!

  8. How fun to check out shades in person. The Internet can make it look like something different. Glad you have another daughter the dress can go to. It looks great so far.
