Anyways, what do I have to share for WIP Wednesday? Well firstly, here is a cardigan that I mentioned yesterday. It's Capricious by Elena Nodel and it looks a bit strange here because not only is it upside down and bunched up on a too-small needle it is also written using "contiguous set-in sleeves" which look a bit odd at this stage! It will come together really nicely though :-)
The yarn is a 4ply Rowan Pure Wool in "Framboise"which sounds terribly exotic. I guess "purple" is a bit less inspiring perhaps? The colour in the photos is fairly true to life which is handy. My camera has low battery and is getting a bit old and tired now. Mr Soaring Sheep has promised me a digital SLR for my birthday next month, I am VERY excited about it!
My other project which I'm about to do some more work on now once I've finished this post is my scrappy blanket, it's looking rather big and wonderful now :-) I'm going to weave in the ends in one big go (or maybe several big go's) at the end so please excuse them for now. Not sure how much bigger I'm going to make it. I'm hoping I'll reach a point where it feels "right"
The last thing I want to show you is a special granny square design I learned from my Beyond the Square crochet book. I thought it was rather fun so I'll be including it in my scrappy blanket somewhere. I also fancy making several more and sewing them into a cushion, perhaps with a rainbow theme or something. So many ideas, so little time lol
Linking in with Tami's Amis for more WIP Wednesday posts :-)
Your scrappy blanket is amazing, so fun looking.
ReplyDeleteLovely knitting and lovely colour.
I'm in the process of buying an SLR but am stuck on which one to buy. Any advice?
Good luck with all the ends!! I'm making a crochet ripple and am sewing mine in as I go along, feels less painful this way!
Thank you :-)
DeleteNo advice really about buying an SLR as this will be my first one. I mainly read lots of reviews on places like Amazon and tried to get a feel there for what I wanted and which cameras would be most suitable. I'm hoping to go into a shop and have a play with a few cameras to see if the ones I've identified feel right when I hold and use them
Hi! Love the colour of cardigan really rich and they blanket looks fab...I have just bought a dslr - went for pentax k-30 as it is 'weather proof' and life by the sea can be fraught with sand and rain danger!!!!! well dangerous to a camera anyway lol! I have brave pointing and shooting it but have a long way to go to reach stage 1 creativity!!!! hope this may help a little
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) I don't think I've read much about that Pentax camera, will have to have a google later. Weather proof definitely sounds like a good idea by the sea! I dropped my compact camera onto sand in front of a photography enthusiast and the look on his face said it all! I think I will have to learn to be a bit less clumsy with a new camera :-S
DeleteI looked out the pattern of your cardigan. It looks so nice and stylish! Great choice!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can't believe this blanket is made from scrap yarn! It will light up any room it's placed in.
It's a lovely looking pattern isn't it, I hope I can do it justice! I'm thinking now I might put the blanket on my youngest daughter's cot bed as it's almost a perfect size for it and she loves playing with it while I'm trying to add each new square :-p
DeleteFunny to think that colour is "Framboise" ... the french word for Raspberry. It looks much more purple than that to me. Gorgeous cables!
ReplyDeleteYour scrap yarn blanket looks lovely, but I don't envy you the ends.
Yeah it's definitely not a raspberry colour at all.
DeleteThanks :-) I'm not looking forward to the ends either although I do like sitting down to sew them in with the blanket over my lap. It's too cold at the moment, doesn't feel like Spring at all :-(
That's a lovely purple! I agree with Minding My Own Stitches, above - it doesn't really look Raspberry to me, but ah well. Purple is excellent anyway.
ReplyDeletePurple's my favourite colour so I'm definitely happy with it lol :-)
DeleteIt all looks lovely! I hope you manage to get some sleep ins over the weekend, it is my main goal too!
ReplyDeleteWe managed 7:10am this morning, that's over half an hour extra sleep! Except two of them came into the room and let the cat in as well who proceeded to kiss me on the mouth. That certainly woke me up :-S bleugh!
DeleteYour purple yarn is gorgeous more blackberry than raspberry!
ReplyDeletemmm yes, like a blackberry cheese cake or something... yummy lol!
DeleteThe two-toned Granny is so neat. Your scrappy blanket makes me smile. I like the looks of that cardi. It's like it has tails, like a woman's, every day tux coat.
ReplyDeleteThe book I got the granny square pattern from is fab, so many different designs in there. It also taught me how to make a sliding loop for starting rather than using a chain ring, so much neater :-)
DeleteThat is a colourful one (the 3rd photograph)
ReplyDeletelol yeah you could say that!
