4KCBWDAY6 - A Tool To Covet

Instead of recommending a tool I thought I would write about a tool I would like. I thought this would be quite easy at first, I'd choose a spinning wheel obviously. Being able to create my own handspun yarns would be so much fun and there are so many beautiful creations out there I'd love to have a go at:

So what's the problem? Well it's really a matter of space (and time!). At the moment we live in a 3-4 bedroom house. I say 3-4, the fourth bedroom is barely big enough for a cot bed and a wardrobe! I have no where to safely keep a spinning wheel. I'd have to pack it away constantly when I'm not using it or I'd spend all my time trying to keep the children away from it. Not fun at all. Well I thought some more and decided that the "tool" I covet is actually more of a "space".

I would love to have my own room for crafting. It would be bright and airy with walls of yarn shelves

yarn room

It will be filled with bright colours, cushions, blankets and inspiring artwork

There will be lamps, comfortable chairs, a laptop for browsing ravelry and most importantly a lock on the door to keep the little darlings out ;-)

Basically a space for me. Somewhere I can enjoy being creative and inspired. And yes maybe somewhere where I can have a spinning wheel too

See you again tomorrow for the final post looking forward to next year :-)

  2. We moved into a 4 bedroom house from a 3 bedroom house. And a bonus room to boot. You would think I would have a craft room. But no, both girls got their own rooms, Hubster got the bonus room for a TV/Bar room and the last bedroom is a spare bedroom. My craft stuff lives there in the closet and a bookcase, but not comfy chair, no table for sewing machine, no nothing! It has been used twice as a bedroom in 2 years. I am thinking it needs to become a craft room soon.

  3. I'm with you, I'd love some more space for a craft room! we do have a room downstairs that is mostly unused, but its not really suitable for either small children to sleep in, or yarn to be stored long term iykwim!

    1. I don't really get the pokey fingers but I do get the constant questions about what I'm doing, usually at a point where I'm concentrating on counting or doing a particular stitch or something lol.

  5. Love that cute little crocheted elephant! Ah yes, the elusive craft space, with some kind of laser beam anti toddler system would be divine. They do seem to have rather a thing for the bobbins!

  6. I'm fortunate in that I have a room dedicated solely dedicated to crafty pursuits :)...yours will happen one day.

As for spinning, have you considered spindles? I am presently thinking about a spinning wheel, but have been spindling for some time. There is a wonderful group on Ravelry...http://www.ravelry.com/groups/spindlers

    1. ooo I'm envious :-)

I have but not really looked into them that much. I'm not sure if I want a fibre stash as well as a yarn one :-s Perhaps in time when the children are a bit older
