It also doubles up as a way of scaring his big sister ;-)
I tried to get a shot of it on his bed but he insisted on being in those photos too...
I tried going for a different angle and look what happened! Another one appeared!
(incidentally I can't believe I hadn't noticed before how similar these two have become!)
Well, I did try to show off my blanket but as you can see it's already very well loved and being used every night to keep my little boy warm. A successful project I think!
I am rather missing crochet though. I'm "Cold Sheeping" this month but I think after that I will get a few yarns and cast something new on. I have made some granny squares using the teeny balls of yarn left over from doing the border on this blanket but they were finished so quickly they didn't really satisfy my urge lol.

Wow! It looks amazing, how long did it take you? He is sure to love that blanket for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, I'd like to make all four of them their own blanket eventually. Next up is Little Brother who has the bottom bunk bed. His is going to be the same colours but probably a granny square style rather than stripes.
DeleteAccording to ravelry it took me roughly 2 months to make but I wasn't working on it exclusively
That is an awesome project!! I love all the pictures of your little ones popping in too!!
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) They can't resist a camera lol
DeleteIt's gorgeous - and the kids are just adorable. I think kids make just about any project look twice as cute as it would otherwise :D
ReplyDeleteLol thank you :-)
DeleteLovely blanket! The best were the models with it.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWell done, this is gorgeous, I don't blame him for not wanting to leave it alone :)
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) I've definitely got the crochet bug now :-)
Deletewhat an amazing blanket finish
ReplyDeleteMay I ask if you blocked this at all? And if so how? I've just started one of my own, and am finding that the crochet is slightly curved thanks to the double crochet foundation. It might correct itself as I go along, but in case it doesn't, I'd be intrigued to know if someone who had produced a successful blanket blocked it afterwards!
ReplyDeleteHi, I didn't block it as my son wanted it on his bed sooner rather than later. I'm not too bothered about it because it's tucked in around his mattress. You might find the border helps to flatten it out once it's finised.
DeleteBlocking would be tricky with this blanket because it's acrylic. I'd probably steam block the edges in sections if I was to do it.
Haha, yes my previous experience with has been acrylic (or, rather a childhood in acrylic jumpers knitted by my grandmother...) that it stretches rather badly if you're not careful. I suppose blocking it would be rather pedantic given that mine is also going on someones bed and I seriously doubt anyone but myself would pick it up and check the straightness of the edges lol!
DeleteThank you :-)
