FO - Blueberry Waffle Socks and March Yardages

I finished these socks before we went on our Easter holiday to Northumberland but ran out of time to sew in the ends and give them a wash and block. That's been done now so they're ready for their show off post :-)

I've said before it's a tricky yarn to photograph but I think these colours are as close to lifelike as I'm going to manage. The yarn is from Laughing Yaffle and is a colourway called Electric Sheep. I love how zingy it is.

I followed the pattern as written aside from switching the heel to my favourite fish lips kiss heel which is easy to knit and fits my foot well.

I'm trying to reduce my yarn stash a bit this year, or at least not increase it too much. To keep me on track I'm trying to keep an eye on how much yarn I knit up vs. how much I add. My yardage totals for March are:

Yarn in 464 yards
Yarn out 651 yards

So I have a net loss of 187 yards for last month. Unfortunately that's not helping very much with January's massive gain so my stash is still bigger for this year by 1795 yards. Must try harder lol.

  1. Great socks! I am addicted to them and am only on my 3rd pair but I know I will always have several on the needles for sure! I have not tried the fish lips kiss heel but my next pair I will definitely as so many people say they love it and it's easy. I'm like you, I taught myself to knit and crochet and just about anything else I do! LOL!
I love your keeping track of yarn stash in and out and I want to do that for yarn and also fabric! And maybe junk from sales too! LOL! I'll be back! Have a great day!

    1. Hehe socks are good fun :) When I first started knitting them I tried out various heels to work out which ones suited my foot best. It's amazing how many variations there are!

  2. They are stunning socks and such a beautiful yarn, the colours are amazing. I daren't keep a track on my stash I would have to own up to how much I have.

    1. Thank you :) Yeah it's a bit unnerving working out how long it will take me to knit my stash down if I don't buy any more yarns. However I'm far from SABLE so I'll just enjoy it for now

  6. You'll get there. I always have a big buy in January since it's my birthday month. I spend the rest of the year trying to counteract that!

    1. Yeah I'm not worried about the size of my stash but just trying to be a bit more mindful about how much I add to it. I seem to go in phases, I can Cold Sheep for ages but then I buy one yarn and then suddenly I end up with 3 or 4 more orders from various sellers lol

  9. Good luck with stash decreasing - I'm trying to do the same thing. Last year went quite well (mainly because I was pregnant and baby knitting helped use up some odds and ends) and probably this year will too as I'm on maternity leave so can't afford to buy much yarn...

    1. I found pregnancy made me lose my knitting mojo which wasn't helpful so very impressed you managed to be so productive. I guess the good thing about stash is it doesn't go off lol

  10. My favorite colors in one of my favorite sock patterns! Those are great socks.
I admire those of you who are brave enough to apply math to the stash. I don't think I want to know!

  11. Wow, seems like everywhere I look lately, I see people working those Blueberry Waffles. (Is the universe sending me a pattern signal here?)

I really like the cheerful colors in your finished socks!
