I love how the ribbing travels down and then twists together to make the cables

FO Friday Fail

I have been trying sooo hard this week to get my Lavanda finished and it's ALMOST there but I've not done the pockets, blocked it or sewn the buttons on so it's still not properly "finished". It's looking lovely though, I'm so proud of it lol. I'm really looking forward to showing it off!

I've got lots of projects lined up that I want to make. I bought some Knit Picks Chroma last week which is going to become some cabled wrist warmers for me. I've picked out this pattern and will cast them on at the weekend I expect.

However, this morning I had itchy fingers, I wanted something quickish to knit so I've cast on some longies. They are bright green longies, with a twist ;-)

Unfortunately Ava has chosen not to have a nap this afternoon so I'm not going to get much knitting done :-( And then it's half term next week which could either mean all of the children play beautifully together while I knit or more likely I'll spend my time coming up with games, activities and sorting out disagreements :-p

Just a quick post today to show off some woollies I finished last week. Firstly a pair of Scrappy shorties. I do love knitting shorties, can't wait for the warmer weather to return!

And for the same customer, a pair of longies using a colourway from To Knit To Woo which is really scrummy :-)

And finally, my 6 year old's first knitted FO. She spent a lot of time at the weekend knitting her first i-cord on a french knitting dolly. While she was at school I sewed it up into this flower, she's very proud of it :-)

Lavanda WIP

I tried to post this last night using my phone but it all got a bit messy and I ended up deleting everything I had typed which was rather frustrating! So here I am doing it on the laptop properly :-)

This is my current WIP, it's a Lavanda cardigan for my eldest, I'm knitting the 6T size.

The cables at the bottom continue down the length of the skirt part which will flare out a bit. The sleeves will have cables running down them but currently they are just being held by some scrap yarn while I do the main part. I'm probably going to do a hood as well hence the provisional cast on using a crochet chain at the top. I did a different provisional cast on for the Neverland Peter hoody I made but I couldn't find the video for it again so I tried this one instead. Hopefully the scrap yarn will be easy to undo!

The yarn I'm using is Debbie Bliss Fez which was reduced in the John Lewis sale. It's a slightly more reddish purple than the photo shows. It's got camel hair in it as well as merino and is beautifully soft. I must admit I am rather amused to be knitting with camel hair! I clearly need to get out more!!

In other news, my little Squishy is 10 months old today! She's getting so big! She's got 4 teeth now and the most gorgeous cheeky grin :-)

A couple of FO's

Firstly is this Molly Bubble Romper that I cast on in July last year! Shockingly I left it at the bottom of my knitting bag all this time having done the ribbing for just one leg cuff. However, I decided to get it out at the weekend, finish it off and reclaim my needles. Miraculously it still fits!

I added a few lazy daisys to prettify it a bit more. The handspun in the middle band is from the lovely Sarah at Babylonglegs.

My second FO is the Oriental Lily dress I've made for Ava's first birthday. I'm still undecided whether I want to do some flowers on the skirt part or not. I like the simplicity of it but I can't help but feel it needs a little more colour

The yarn is a cotton/wool mix from Rowan that I got reduced in the John Lewis sale. It's got a lovely drape to it so I think it will look really nice when Ava is starting to toddle around the place. Not that she's allowed to do that any time soon of course! She's going to be 10 months at the end of January, definitely not my teeny baby any more!

Scrappy Soaker Swap

I recently did a swap with my lovely friend Sim who makes jewellery. She made some beautiful bracelets, a necklace and a tiara for my daughter's birthday.

Cabled hat

After getting frustrated with the Neverland hoody I decided to knit up something a little more interesting. I've had the Little Turtle Knit Braided Cap pattern in my queue for a while and thought that it would work very well to keep poor Mr Soaring Sheep's ears warm!

I love how complicated the cable looks when in fact it's really easy! Not exactly mindless knitting but an easy pattern to memorise so I didn't have to keep consulting back at the pattern. There are instructions from baby-adult and the style of the hat is very stretchy so it fits a range of sizes. It's very well written and I'd recommend it for someone wanting to try cables :-)

So here are the proper photos of the Neverland hoody

The yarn was dyed by me using food colouring and a large slow cooker!

On the whole I think the pattern was a good beginner pattern. The stockinette sections were easy to knit although the moss stitch was mind-numbingly boring at times! I like how it looks though :-) My son is an average sized 4 year old and the pattern fits about right. It is on the narrower side so I don't know if he'll be wearing it next winter. Luckily he has two younger siblings it can get passed down to!

I'm not sure if I will knit this pattern again. If I do I'll probably add some cables or some sort of interesting stitch pattern to make it a bit more challenging. I probably won't make the bigger size but I might make a Neverland Wendy for Ava when she's a bit bigger :-)

I think he likes it though!

Birthday Bonce

This time 6 years ago my first baby had just been born and we were getting to know one another. Now, 6 years on I think we know each other a little better but she still amazes me every day. She's such a fun, caring, clever, delightful little girl and I'm so lucky to have her :-)

My first Mobius

Here's my first attempt at a moebius. I used the Bulky Mobius Cowl pattern although if you look closely enough you'll realise I miscounted one of the rows. Downside of late at night knitting!

My second mobius is almost identical to this one except I didn't mess up the rows and I knitted the larger size. I don't like things too close to my neck I found. Also the yarn was slightly tickly even after I'd washed it. Lovely and warm though :-)

I finally got round to buying some buttons so I could finally finish off these cardigans. A little yarn did slip into the basket as well, some pink for a Lavanda for my eldest and some green DK which may become an Oriental Lily for Ava or some more Milo's or who knows >.

Not the neatest BSJ in the world given I wet felted the scraps of yarn together into a Magic Ball

It's more of a Toddler Surprise Jacket though as due to the stretchy nature of the pattern, the aran yarn used and the fact I have teeny children...

Yeah, it fits my 2.5 year old!

Could probably do with reblocking now it's got buttons and given that it's been folded in my yarn box for a few months. Still, it's keeping him cosy now

It's my eldest's 6th birthday next month and she's asked for a pink cardigan. I don't think I'm going to be able to knit the Lavanda cardigan in time for her birthday but we have at least chosen the yarn (the pink I mentioned earlier) and the buttons. They're actually rather pretty, especially when the light catches them :-)

My eldest boy whom I making the Neverland Hoody for has also chosen his buttons. I thought something made of wood and very simple would look nice. Perhaps even some toggles. But he's a 4 year old boy so what did he choose?

Still, at least it means he's even more excited about his hoody and will hopefully wear it! I've not knitted much of it over the past few days, got a bit bored with the sleeves so knitted up a quick hat for my OH. First time I've actually knitted him anything! Photos to follow later as it still needs blocking. I'll also take some photos of the moebiuses (moebii?) I've made as well

This is what my 4 year old's hoody currently looks like. It's knitting up fairly quickly at the moment, the pattern is pretty simple though. I'm currently doing the stockinette section of the body, I've got to knit around 15" and I've so far done 9.5". Not bad considering I only cast it on last night :-)

I might also have cast on another moebius...

Owl Milo

I finished this Milo recently for my eldest. It wasn't originally going to be a Christmas present but she has asked for me to wrap it up for her anyway

I love the cable pattern, I'm really in the mood to knit cables at the moment, they look so pretty. I keep adding patterns to my ravelry queue

I've finished making a Spring Time in Hollis cardigan for Ava but not taken a photo yet as it's still drying after blocking. I need to get some buttons and do the i-cord tie as well.

My new love however is knitting a mobius/moebius. SO MUCH FUN! It's like magic! You have to do a special cast on first, I used this video

And then watch your knitting grow. The cast on forms the centre of the cowl and the cast off edge makes the outsides. I knitted up a cowl using bulky yarn in a couple of hours one evening. I'll post a photo of it in another post as it is also drying from blocking. I used a tweed yarn by Rowan which was rather scratchy at first but I put a little lanolin in the water when I washed it and it's now beautifully soft. I knit the smaller size from the pattern and it was a little bit too tight round my neck for me, so my 6 year old will be getting it for Christmas and I will make myself another one. And then I'm going to make one for my Mum. And then I think I might make one in a different weight yarn, maybe DK or sock yarn so it's a bit more drapey. Ooo they are fun!!

At the moment however I am currently knitting a Neverland Peter hoody for my 4 year old. He insists on growing so he only has one hoody that fits him and it's not knitted. He has as Milo but when he wears it with a short-sleeve top his arms get chilly. Bless!

I'm really enjoying having the leisure time to knit new patterns. My Other Half is on holiday this week and next so he's been fab at entertaining the children now and again while I get some knitting time. I wonder if he'd like a moebius too? ;-)

A few recent orders

I've had a few customs recently so thought I'd show them off in this post and then save some of my other knitting for another day.

These woollies went to a friend on mine, she wanted bright colours. I think we can agree that the colourways she chose fulfilled that!

The soaker is made using a lovely turquoise colourway by Wharfedale Woolworks (the name of the colourway has completely gone out of my head this evening!)

The longies were made using Pixieknit's Violet Rainbow colourway which is one of my favourites. Unfortunately the light wasn't too good when I took these photos so the colours look a bit washed out. They are far more beautiful in real life

I've also been enjoying making some Scrappies, I love putting the colourways together and seeing the completely unique woollies it creates. These girly ones are lovely and bright with a gentle ruffle cuff

This pair the customer requested matching black trim for both the waistband and legs and it really makes the colours pop. I think I'll be making some more pairs like this in the future!

I've also made a couple of baby hats over the past two weeks. One for Ava in the vague hope it will stay on her head and another for my friend's little girl who had her first birthday yesterday. Unfortunately she also likes to pull hats off, silly babies!

Over the past few days I've been knitting something for my eldest. She's very pleased with it but has asked me to wrap it up for Christmas. I need to wash and block it first but here's a sneaky peek:

Inspiration

I want to knit but I'm just not sure what. Do I have a go at another pair of dungarees for Ava to wear over the winter or maybe some more Milo tops for my boys to keep warm in?

I still haven't knitted DP a hat, I've been toying with the LTK Braided Cap pattern but I know it will take some concentration and therefore time. Maybe something like a Woolly Wormhead design, such as the adult version of the Tri-Peak hat or maybe he'd like a Jester hat like this:

*sigh*

I just don't know. I've got so many patterns in my ravelry queue at the moment that I'm almost feeling overwhelmed by them. Not a lot of time for knitting either so it's whether I want to get something finished quickly or whether I should pick something more complex that will feel more of an achievement to finish.

Any one have any suggestions or advice? What do you do when you're not sure what to knit?

Holiday #1

We just got back on Friday from a holiday on the Isle of Wight. My parents moved there last year so we camped in their garden!

We went on some lovely walks...

Visited the donkey sanctuary...

In Threes Cardigans

I mentioned in a previous post that I was making a pair of In Three's Cardigans for my two girls. Well I've finished them and finally sewn the buttons on. I love knitting but put off sewing for ages because I nearly always stab myself with a needle! I really should stop knitting patterns that need buttons...

Anyway, here's a picture of Ava's cardigan before buttons were added and before blocking. Esmé's is very similar, just bigger and with three bands of garter stitch at the bottom rather than two

I've also quickly knitted a hat and booties set for my friend who is having a baby in the Autumn. The hat pattern was "Devon's hat" by LTK and the booties were using LTK's Moc Booties pattern

Not the best pictures I'm afraid because I was in a hurry to get them done and wrapped up. I think I'll knit another one of these hats for Ava to wear this Winter, I'm such a sucker for knitted baby hats!

Morrie's Milo

I've had this pattern in my queue on Ravelry for a while now. I think I bought it and printed it off before I got pregnant with Ava. I even bought some beautiful green yarn from Babylonglegs to knit one with.

Well, I finally got round to it and I'm so pleased with how it turned out:

Morrie refers to it as his "Crocodile top" because the yarn colourway was named "Hungry Crocodile" and he says the cabling looks like a crocodile's tail >.<

I'm looking forward to knitting this pattern again, it's well written and knits up quickly. Morrie has asked for a red one and he has told me I need to make a blue one for his brother. Such demanding children I have... I'll have to convince my OH to let me go yarn shopping!

Bayside Britches

I knitted these dungarees while I was pregnant, these are the 6-9 month size and are a good fit on my average sized 3 month old but with plenty of room to grow as well. The yarn was a custom dye on merino by For The Love of Fibre. I asked for Peacock colours and this is what she came up with :-)

I'm currently knitting an In Threes cardigan for my big girl and then I'll knit a matching one for my little girl. Going to get buttons for them tomorrow, I'm using a purple/pink/black colourway from 100purewool called "Poison" so I'm going to see if I can get some shiny silver buttons to stand out against the yarn. Or at least that's what my plan is, I may come back with something completely different!

This is my second time knitting the In Threes pattern. I don't think I loaded the photo onto flickr so can't link to it but here's a copy on my projects page on Ravelry :-)

Busy!

Eek, been nearly 2 months since I last updated this blog. And they have certainly been a busy few weeks!

We've had a birthday, M was 4

We had a strawberry cake :-)

And a picnic or two

We went on a steam train

I painted my nails a few times >.<

Ava has grown a bit bigger!

We went for walks in the sunshine with some friends

Did a little bit of gardening (ok, we pulled up the weeds and filled some pots with flowers!)

Went for some more walks

But still found some time to snuggle :-)

Oh and I finished a rainbow skirty :-)

I've just finished a pair of longies which have yet to be photographed and then I'm either going to make something for Ava or some scrappies for a customer. I want to make some booties for a friend's upcoming baby at some point too, but she isn't due until October so I've got a little time left!

We got a girl!

Ava Rose was born on 28th March, at home as planned, after an intense 2 hour labour :-) She weighed 8 lb 1oz and was born at 41+2 weeks, over 2 weeks earlier than Eli was!

She's now nearly 3 weeks old, over a lb heavier and starting to get little fat rolls, adorable (I am biased though!)

My other three children adore her, especially Eli, he loves to give her cuddles and if she cries he immediately comes over and starts stroking her hair and her tummy to calm her down

Original blog post

I used just over 100g of aran weight yarn on 5.0mm needles. I finished it with simple k2p2 ribbing to stop the bottom curling up. If I make it again I think I'll do matching ribbing around the neckline as well. It comfortably fits my average sized almost 2 year old and was a lovely quick knit :-)

The matching skein of yarn is currently otn being turned into a teeny soaker for Bump :-)

I'm off on holiday tomorrow. We're taking all three children camping for the first time. The baby will still be in cloth nappies but we're only going for 4 days so should be ok... Straight in the wash when we get home though! My biggest boy potty trained himself over night. He went from being in nappies full time to being dry day and night in a matter of days.

I should probably stop refering to Eli as "the baby" now. He's walking all over the place, has his first pair of outdoor shoes and is babbling away at us all the time. Look how big he is!

How did that happen??

Here is the skorty I mentioned in my previous post. It's now on it's way to a lovely lady :-)

The yarn is a Wharfedale Woolworks colourway called "Bird of Paradise" that I bought from Jo at Handdyed Haven.

I love how it's knitted up :-)

I did a simple picot edging around the bottom of the skirty as I was getting short on yarn!

I think it looks rather nice though :-)

Shorties season has arrived. I really should get round to making some more for my boys! Problem is my almost 3 year old is probably going to be out of nappies by the summer and my 1 year old (yeah that's come round quickly!) can use his brother's old shorties.

I've been looking at various patterns on Ravelry and am feeling drawn to hats and cardigans recently! Completely the wrong season of course but might knit up something for them to wear in the autumn. I have a couple of Christmas presents I want to knit up too but I refuse to start doing them before August!

Anyways I'll stop rambling now. Here are a few things I've made recently. I've got another pair of shorties drying that were a custom order and have some wonderful ruffles. I'll post about them another day

I've got one more pair of longies to finish and then my customs list is done until January. I've got a couple of things I want to knit over Christmas but it will be nice to have the pressure off.

As we're moving house next month (eek not long now!!) we had a man come round this afternoon to give us a quote for removals. There is something uncomfortable about having strangers wander round your house looking at things. I guess that's one of the reasons house moving is so stressful, your calm quiet home suddenly has people trampling through it, taking all your furniture outside to load onto a lorry and then trampling through your new house.

I'm looking forward to this all being over. The new house is quite a bit bigger than this one so there won't be the problem of trying to find places for things. The kitchen is bigger with a large workspace which will be very useful. There is a garden for the children to play in during the summer. There is a play park nearby for the children to use and a country park a short walk up the road :-)

This is a set that I'm really proud of. I dyed the yarn ages ago and it just wasn't quite right so I overdyed it a pinky-red colour and it blended beautifully.

The booties were made by Sam from Essence of Envy

The buttons are adoreable!

Ok that's it for tonight. I should have some more photos to update with in a couple of weeks. At the moment I'm in a B&B with 3 very over-excited children who are supposed to be going to bed but are instead bouncing around and squealing. We're all sleeping in the same room so I fear it will be a long night!

Been too busy to post for a while. I've recently found out that we'll be moving house by January so things are rather busy here at the moment. I'm working my way through my customs list and have closed my shop for the next few months. I don't know if I'll be able to participate much during Buy British Month which I'm rather sad about but hopefully I'll be able to start making woollies again early next year :-)

10 Things About Me

I was tagged by Charlotte so here goes:

1. I can play the flute. I was grade 7/grade 8 standard when I left school. I got my grade 6 certificate but decided I didn't want to do more exams at the same time as doing my A levels so instead just worked on enjoying what I was playing. I hardly ever pick up my flute now, I miss it in some ways, there is something very peaceful about just sitting and playing

2. I love reading. Particularly fantasy books and historical fiction. I like the escapism of reading about other worlds or times and always want a happy ending. With 3 young children I don't get much chance to read at the moment, except in the mornings when I'm running a bath.

3. I love being outside. Going for long walks, camping or just running around in the rain. When I was pregnant with my daughter I didn't go out much. I was lonely and I sat around all day feeling trapped and getting fatter. 4 Years on from that I feel like I'm starting to find the outdoors again.

4. I started training to be a midwife. I've been interested in birth, pregnancy and women's health since I was a child. I had to leave in my first year after I got pregnant with my daughter. I think I would like to go back to it, but don't know if I ever will.

5. When I was younger my Granddad used to send me fossilised dinosaur poo that he'd dug up on his land. I think I've still got it in a tin up in the roof!

6. I enjoy cooking and baking. I'm not the world's best cook by a long stretch but I like flipping through cookery books or looking on cooking websites for inspiration and trying new meals.

7. I'm a control freak. I like to plan things weeks, if not months, in advance. I love making lists and crossing things off. I get grumpy and stressed out very easily if people aren't on time or don't do something which they've said they would.

8. Conversely I can be ridiculously spontaneous. When I was 43+3 weeks pregnant we decided to drive 6 hours to go see an American aircraft carrier at Portsmouth. That night I finally went into labour with my third baby.

9. I am left handed and resent being called "cack handed". I am just as dextrous as a right handed person, and I'm probably more ambidextrous than a large proportion of them, having had to learn quite early on how to use tools designed for right handers

10. I can pick up a snail and let it crawl across my palm but I can't bare to touch a slug. It is ridiculous!

YYMK Longies for another woolly WAHM

A large soaker that I knitted up with some left over yarn. It was sold to a very quick Mama

And lastly some shorties in Pixieknit's Violet Rainbow colourway. These were the prize I donated for the Cloth Nappy Addict forum's birthday celebrations. The winner asked for shorties to fit her daughter next year and gave me a list of colourways she liked. I picked this one because it was so bright and Summery.

I think I'll order this colourway again, it would make such a cute skirty :-)

Currently I'm knitting up another YYMK order with some lovely Jimmy Riddles yarn. It is gorgeously thick yarn, perfect for winter longies

I am really pleased with these so they can have a blog post all to their own. They're a custom order made using Krafty Koala's Purple Rain colourway which is so rich and vibrant. It's absolutely scrummy and I will definitely be ordering it again

You know I said I've got lots of yarn at the moment and don't really need any more. Well tonight I've just ordered 1.1kg! Some from Sarah at Babylonglegs and some more from Alison at Pixieknits. I really need to get knitting!

However, in my defence, some of that is for orders and my customs list is full til October so theoretically it will get used soon-ish.

No idea where I'm going to put it though! Do you think the baby would mind sharing his cot? He doesn't really need all that room does he? Or would he try to eat it?

Absolutely stunning colourway, definately one of my favourites. I love the patterning of the colours and it makes me think of sunshine and Spring :-)

These longies are in Babylongleg's Gothika colourway with bell ruffle cuffs.

My shop is closed for the next 3 weeks to give me a chance to catch up on orders and also to go on holiday! We're renting a house with the in-laws in Dover for a week so fingers crossed we get lots of sunshine!

I've been super busy lately, not helped by a hungry baby who wants to nurse all the time! He is about 18lbs now at less than 4 months old so it's not surprising really!

Anyways, here's what I've been up to:

I've also got some X-Large skirty longies on the needles which are taking a while! Got about an inch left on the skirty part now so hoping I'm not going to run out of yarn!

I've been enjoying lots of girly orders lately. As I only have boys in cloth nappies at the moment it's good fun to be able to use pinks and ruffles :-)

This pair were an X-Large custom order using Krafty Koala's Fairground colourway. Soooo bright!

This pair are in Babylongleg's Chocolate Candy colourway. Due to a problem with my shop I managed to sell this colourway twice. The other customer is being very understanding and patient and I'll be knitting hers up when Sarah has had the time to dye up more yarn when she's back from her hols :-)

I love these ruffles!!

Finally I've got a Juliette skirty to show off that I've made as a swap for a friend's baby. I'm going to be offering custom slots for these from August

I did a sewn cast off for the legs and skirty which took forever! Won't be doing that again, no matter how nice it looks!

Busy Me

Two more shorties to show off and another pair just finished today that need lanolising which I'll post pictures of tomorrow.

First shorties are these made using Babylongleg's Weeping Willow colourway. These were for the same person who ordered the Blue Banana shorties

I ran out of yarn at the end so ended up having to do a simple crocheted drawstring. I'm really pleased with how they turned out though. Hardly any pooling and the colours look really nice knitted up.

This pair I finished at the weekend:

They're knitted in a goldfish colourway from Krafty Koala. I'd been lusting after this colourway for a whiile, bought it and then persuaded a customer to choose it! These were X-large shorties but surprisingly quick to knit. I love this colourway and I'm sure I'll be ordering it again at some point :-D

Anyways, need to get back to the needles. Hopefully I'll have some more photos to post soon :-)

Had a scary moment last night. I tried to put away a big bag of yarn I got recently from Babylonglegs. I didn't have space in my yarn box. I didn't have space in the big drawer either. I have too much yarn :-o I told DP to take a note of the time!

Unfortunately I decided I had too much yarn just after I ordered 5 skeins from Krafty Koala, whoops!

However I have finished a pair of X large shorties which I cast on friday evening. I then cast on another pair of shorties and I've finished the back of a medium soaker which will be part of a skirty I'm making for a friend's baby.

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with yarn at the moment so I'm knitting really quickly to try to get rid of some of it. I'm hoping to get all my orders done by August so I can close the shop for a month and knit some longies for Eli to wear this winter. I've got 3 longies worth of yarns that I bought for him from the US whilst i was pregnant and I've not touched any of them. I've also got 2 skeins of yarn I was going to make into longies for my eldest hut she's potty trained. I'm still deciding whether to use it for my bigger boy or to keep it to one side for Eli when he's bigger...

Patt of me likes the idea of putting all my yarn in a big pile on the floor and taking a photo. I'm worried that it might shock me a bit though!

Anyways, I'll do some photos of what I've been making in a bit but just wanted to post this one now of some instock shorties I made out of the yarn I dyed a few weeks ago

Currently I'm working on another pair of scrappies, this time some boyish crops. I've just got to sew up the crotch and do the legs. I've got the yarns already and I'm planning on doing it in the next couple of evenings.

I'm off on holiday today. We're going to be staying at the in-laws house for a couple of weeks and having a holiday from there. We've already planned two beach trips and I'm planning on meeting up with some friends too which I'm looking forward to.

I need something to knit in the car so I'm taking with me some crops that I've got on the needles. I'm also planning on making a skirty for a friend's baby girl as well so will be taking yarn for that. Guess it's not technically a holiday if I'm bringing my knitting, but it's a hobby so it doesn't count :-p

Orange Secret Garden Skirty

Finished this skirty first thing Saturday morning (stayed up late the night before to try to get it done but I couldn't focus on the stitches after a while!). I'm soo pleased with it and it's the first skirty I've really enjoyed knitting. The customer is a lovely WAHM who I did collaborations with for BBM and instead of paying for this skirty, she's swapping me some of her handpainted tops for my littlens.

Anyways, on to the photos :-)

I'm rather pleased with them :-) The waistband is three different colourways of yarn twisted together and I think it looks really effective. Was a good way of using up yarn scraps and in creating something quirky and unique.

I sold these crops when I'd only started the first leg so was able to customise the legs to be more girly. The customer also wanted them to be mismatched which I like too.

Had a bit of a dilema deciding where and how to join the new yarns. Normally I do a felted join but felt this would look too messy. I ended up using the jogless stripes technique here: http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2007/01/jogless-stripes.html

and I started each new yarn at the front of the work, reasoning that this would be the area under the least amount of strain as the child moves. I hid the leg joins down the inseam.

I'm still working on the skirty. Unfortunately the baby has been having a growth spurt so he's been nursing all the time. Fingers crossed that it's finished for now and the cooler weather expected at the weekend will mean he's not as thirsty.

He's certainly getting bigger though!

My partner worked from home this afternoon and needed to use the laptop. I could have spent my time knitting, or doing housework, or sleeping but instead I had a play with some Koolaid. 200g of bfl aran dyed in blue, orange and green. Looking forward to seeing it reskeined and then knitted up :-)

I do have green and orange hands now though!

Made using the left over yarn from these shorties which I've also finished:

Just need to lanolise and knit the i-cord. Really chuffed with these. The blue yarn was sent by the customer and although the blue doesn't match the blue in the yarn they still look really good together, at least in my opinion! These are being sent on to someone else as part of a "nappy fairy" swap on a forum. Basically like a secret santa but involving nappies :-p

1 Pair of shorties done:

(Bluebell colourway from Babylonglegs)

Second pair of shorties just need second leg cuff and ends weaving in. Oh and a drawcord.

Third pair of shorties I've got as far as the waistband and a few rows into the body.

I felt a bit fed up of shorties so decided to make some booties for Eli to give me a quick break. Well that was the theory. Cast on 3-6 months, too small. Cast on 6-12 months, sewed up and started second bootie. Realised first bootie was wrong, I'd managed to miss out 4 rows of stockinette stitch. Humph.

I AM going to finish these booties! Even if I am sick of them already. We're going to a wedding so thought he could wear them as part of his wedding outfit. 10 days to go, surely my children and brain will let me concentrate for the hour it takes to do them?

Seriously, one bootie in just an hour. Sounds great doesn't it. Except it's taken me all day to knit one :-(

Busy bee

I've got 3 pairs of shorties to knit up at the moment, plus an almost finished skirty, plus another skirty I need to start. Predictably Eli decided that he wasn't going to nap until my other two children had woken up from their nap so I've managed to get about 10 rows of knitting done today. Humph!

Still, I'm looking forward to the projects. The yarns are gorgeous and shorties are so satisfyingly quick compared to longies. Yay for warmer weather :-)I've got a few ideas I'd like to try for Buy British Month but I have a feeling I won't have time. However, it's my 1st year anniversary of The Soaring Sheep on the 1st July so maybe I could get a few things made up for that...

I've just bought something from Buy British Month. I'd originally eyed it up when it was for sale on Hyenacart but didn't have any paypal at the time. Now it's been listed with a custom slot so I'm going to have it made into shorties for my bigger son.

It's his 2nd birthday on the 19th May so it can be a present for him ;-)

A month long WAHM-fest hosted on the Cloth Nappy Addicts forum. This year I've got some exciting collaborations in the pipeline as well as some custom slots with beautiful yarns and hopefully some instock shorties too, baby permitting!

So far I've got 3 tempting woollies knitted up that are going to be part of collaborations with other WAHM's

Already this beautiful set with Weenotions has sold within minutes of being listed. The shorties were made by me last year in Mamalongleg's Sophie colourway. The top is Organic Bamboo Velour in size 2 Years with a seahorse embroidered with colours to match the shorties, and an Organic Bamboo Velour Night Notion with matching embroidery on the back.

The next offering from me will be this set:

It will be listed in my shop as soon as I've taken a photo of it. It's a collaboration with the very talented Claire of Jelly Nose Chic and is absolutely stunning. The yarn was dyed by Mamalonglegs.

Buy British Month isn't just about cloth nappies and soakers though, there are handmade clothes, jewellery even needle felted artwork! Well worth a look :-)

Introducing Eli

My not so little bunny finally made an appearance on 8th April 2009. He was born at 43 weeks 4 days gestation and weighed an eye watering 11lb 0.5oz!

He's now 5 days old, chunky as ever (not lost any weight due to constantly breastfeeding!) and a very laid back and happy little chap.

Still waiting for baby!

I'm now 42 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I feel bloomin huge!

These were taken nearly a week ago now and I've got bigger since if my ever increasing stretchmarks are any indication.

Finding it very hard to find the inclination to do anything creative at the moment. I sometimes pick up my knitting and do a few rows but that's about it. It's not even 2pm and I'm already thinking about having a nap. How can sitting around all day doing nothing be so exhausting?

Hope I'm updating soon with baby pictures. Just thought I'd post incase anyone is wondering where I've been...

Been almost a month since I last posted. Sorry!

Not really done much knitting lately, too tired and lazy. I also don't have any photos taken of the things I have knitted so it's going to be a bit of a boring post. I've made a second tester soaker sack and sent it off to the lady who will be testing it. I've also made some blue shorties for Bump using some gorgeously squishy Organic Merino from Krafty Koala.

I've made my little boy some night time shorties using some red peacefleece. I need to redo the legs though cos his are a bit plumper than I thought. Whoops!

Currently I'm knitting some shorties that I will hopefully be doing a collab with another WAHM for Buy British Month on the Cloth Nappy Addicts forum in May. Yes it's a bit early but with a newborn I doubt I'll get much done.

Speaking of newborns, I'm 39ish weeks now. Feeling very pregnant and uncomfortable. Hopefully it won't be much longer before I go into labour.

Anyways, Spring seems to be in the air and we've been enjoying the warmer weather :-)
